VIDEO: You may not see them every day, but the many faces behind the firefighter uniform stand ready to help protect the community. Sunday, a memorial service was held at Florian Gardens in Eau Claire, and across the nation, for those that unfortunately were unable to make it home safely from the job. “They’re people that rescue people, when they’re like sick or scared or stuff,” said 9-year-old Gabe Secker as he described the duty of a firefighter. “My dad is a firefighter. It’s pretty cool since I know he saves people's lives.” The Secker family joined several others in honoring those firefighters who were unable to make it back to their families after being called to help.
