A Beloit man suffered a serious leg injury after his leg got caught between a 700-pound pipe and a scrap-grinding machine Wednesday night at a Janesville business. Firefighters and police responded at 11:45 p.m. to the industrial accident at North American Pipe, 210 S. Arch St., said Lt. Charles Aagaard of the Janesville Police Department. When firefighters arrived they found 30-year-old Thomas Skowranski, 30, with his left leg trapped in a piece of equipment, said Battalion Chief Ron Bomkamp of the Janesville Fire Department. It took 45 minutes to extricate him, he said. “We had to make sure the (PVC) pipe wouldn’t roll on any of the rescuers,” Bomkamp said.
