Marshall firefighters assist at tobacco barn fire

The Marshall Fire Department provided mutual assistance Sunday night at a tobacco barn fire in the Dane County Town of Vienna. A large tobacco barn and three additional outbuildings at 7026 Patton Road in the Town of Vienna were destroyed by the spreading fire that was reported at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11. The buildings are considered a total loss. Salvation Army personnel assisted at the scene. When first responders arrived, all persons had been evacuated from the nearby home and no injuries were reported. Damage estimated are pending and the cause of the fire does not appear suspicious, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office. Roads near the fire scene were closed for several hours. Deputies and fire personnel were still at the scene as of 10 p.m. Sunday. Other fire departments at the scene included DeForest, Dane, Waunakee, Maple Bluff, Lodi, Arlington, Middleton and Sun Prairie.
