VIDEO: They arrived on Sunday to raise money to fulfill John Reese’s dream of again owning a home. In the process, the paralyzed, former Appleton firefighter learned just how much he’s loved. Friends and family showed up in force at the Best Western Bridgewood Resort Hotel to show their support for Reese, who was paralyzed in a 2001 diving accident. The benefit, dubbed "Faith Through the Fire" featured raffles and silent auctions, but the big draw for most was the man of the hour. While raising funds, supporters raised Reese's spirits. “What an absolutely awesome showing,” he said. “It just sends a chill up my spine to see all these people coming out; all these familiar faces. There are friends, friends of friends, old college buddies — people who used to take care of me in the hospital.”
