VIDEO: Governor Scott Walker has approved a new program designed to transform the way first responders communicate with each other. FirstNet Responder Network Authority and AT&T is building a broadband network specifically dedicated for use by first responders. FirstNet will bring advanced technologies that will help first responders save lives and protect communities. Madison's Assistant Fire Chief Lance Langer said it's designed to enhance communication used by fire, police, and EMS, as well as overcome challenges faced during emergency situations. “For police, fire and EMS will be a separate highway, so to speak, that we'll be able to operate and use our own broadband that no one else will have access to,” Langer said.
