Walworth County has nearly 30 emergency divers who are trained to rescue people when their boat capsizes or they wind up in trouble under water another way. The problem is, those divers are scattered among 14 different fire departments with varied procedures and guidelines for handling water emergencies. Starting Jan. 1, that will all change. Divers for fire departments throughout the county will all be working from the same playbook, and will be trained to function cooperatively under an agreement designed to make water rescues more effective.
