The City of Burlington Fire Department quickly controlled a small fire at a two-family structure in the 480 block on South Perkins Boulevard on Thursday afternoon. Firefighters were called to the scene at about 4:20 p.m., according to Fire Chief Alan Babe. When they arrived, firefighters could see smoke coming from the second story and found that the fire was in the area of the second floor stairwell landing. Both families were home at the time of the incident, but had evacuated the building before firefighters arrived. Firefighters were on the scene until about 5:30 p.m. A damage estimate was not available Thursday.
