Firefighters spent Saturday afternoon battling a stubborn blaze that destroyed an eight-unit apartment building in the 600 block of 13th Avenue South in Onalaska. Streets were closed and electricity temporarily shut off around 13th Avenue South and Green Bay Street, and the Onalaska Fire Department called the Campbell Fire Department for help with the fire, which was reported shortly after noon. According to the department, some pets were treated at the scene before being returned to their owners. Apartment residents were offered hotel accommodations by the building’s owner, 360 Realty.
