VIDEO: The Tomah Fire Department battled its third structure fire in the last two weeks on Friday, when it responded to a house fire on West Jackson Street around 2:00 in the afternoon. According to the department, upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the home, but the heat of the fire caused them to back off and fight the fire from a defensive position. The department says the older construction style of the home caused the fire to spread very quickly and made it difficult to extinguish. 29 firefighters battled the fire for nearly 2.5 hours.
