The Town of Eagle Point will not be getting a new fire station after a vote for a new building failed at Monday night’s special meeting of town residents. The residents, called electors, rejected a proposed fire station by a margin of 137-116. The town said the current fire station, built in the 1970s and next to the town hall, lacks space for equipment. For example, a trailer firefighters use to perform water or ice rescues is parked in a cold storage building separate from the fire station. Remodeling the fire station so it has more space carries a price tag of about $530,000.
