The Chippewa Falls Fire and Emergency Services Department has plans to upgrade equipment that Fire Chief Mike Hepfler said paramedics use on 90 percent of their medical calls. With a vote Tuesday, April 3, the Chippewa Falls City Council has approved paying for the remaining $7,000 to $9,000 costs for two new cardiac monitoring machines. The department was awarded a $47,000 grant through the Wisconsin Department of Veteran’s Affairs to cover a majority of the cost, which could range between $54,000 to $56,000 for two monitors. One monitor, Hepfler said, could cost anywhere between $27,000 to $28,000, depending on additional features.
