A fire broke out early Thursday morning at a Rice Lake factory. The Rice Lake Fire Department got a report of a structure fire at about 2:04 a.m. at American Excelsior, 831 Pioneer Ave. When firefighters arrived, moderate smoke was coming from one end of the building. Firefighters entered the building and used foam to extinguish the fire. The fire was under control at 3:06 a.m., but firefighters remained on scene until 4:49 a.m. to ensure it was out, according to a Rice Lake Fire Department news release. The fire was contained to equipment in two parts of the facility and the cause of the blaze is under investigation. No damage estimate was available when the news release was sent out on Thursday morning.
