PHOTO: A woman and a firefighter were taken to the hospital after a fire at a home in the Village of Oregon, according to the fire chief. The call reporting the fire came in at 6:21 p.m. Thursday from an alarm company after a smoke alarm went off. Officials responded to the 200 block of South Burr Oak Avenue. The woman was transported to an area hospital by emergency medical services and the firefighter drove himself to the hospital. The damage occurred primarily in the middle of the house. Officials do not have an estimate on how much damage was caused at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Village of Oregon Fire Department. Officials do not believe the fire was criminal in nature.
