The body of a 19-year-old man was found off of Barlow Lake Road in the Town of Niagara on Monday, Jan. 8. Jacob Gleason was believed to be traveling through the area on his way back to Houghton before he ended up in the woods. At 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, someone reported a car with Michigan plates that had been abandoned off of Barlow Lake and Brown Spur on a snowmobile trail. After investigating, sheriff's deputies discovered the car belonged to Gleason, who had been traveling and hadn't been heard from in over 24 hours. At 8:30 p.m. on Monday, a group of Niagara firemen found Gleason's body, but with their cell phones about to die in the middle of the forest, they were forced to take extraordinary measures to retrieve the body.
