VIDEO: A longtime member of La Crosse's fire department is getting a promotion. Jeff Murphy was officially promoted from Battalion Chief to Assistant Chief of Operations Friday morning. After more than 20 years of working 24-hour shifts, Murphy says he's looking forward to moving to a '9-to-5' schedule, and shifting into a more administrative role. Murphy says, "it's just another opportunity to do something different in the Fire Department. We've got a lot of great people working here and it's an opportunity to serve them and make sure they get the resources they need."
