The Beaver Dam Fire Department should have a “new” antique firetruck in its fleet soon. The city’s police and fire commission approved allowing the transfer of funds from the budget’s fire prevention funds to help pay for the antique firetruck, which would be used for things like the Father’s Day Car Show and children’s events. The truck would cost about $7,000 and the cost would be paid back through fundraising. Fire Chief Alan Mannel said there’s been a lot of good fundraising for fire prevention efforts already from the business community. “We’ve done a lot of great things with it. We’ve made a lot of great purchases,” he said. “I don’t want to say were looking for things to spend the money on, but we do have some funds in the bank that we could use to purchase the firetruck with the understanding that it’ll be paid back.”
