VIDEO: An explosion destroyed a seasonal lakefront house at W5639 Firelane 12 shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday. Lt. Mark Wiegert of the Calumet County Sheriff's Office said no one was in the home at the time. Two people in an adjacent house were injured. "The injuries right now appear to be minor," Wiegert said. "They have been transported to a Green Bay hospital for treatment and evaluation." The cause of the explosion is under investigation. Wiegert said there was construction in the area but not at the home that exploded. About 25 homes on Fire Lane 12 were evacuated, and the natural gas to the neighborhood was shut off. We Energies was checking for the possible extension of gas to the homes, Wiegert said. "We're very lucky that nobody was at that residence," he said. "We're lucky that a lot of people were gone to work."
