VIDEO: Thursday, 103 United States firefighters were honored and remembered at a memorial ceremony in Eau Claire. Lieutenant Andrew Dorn, with the Eau Claire Fire Department and Honor Guard says it’s an annual ceremony that started in 1991. He says each firefighter’s name is read aloud and a bell is rung. It’s to remember those who sacrificed their life in 2017 while in the line of duty. Dorn also says being with the department is a brotherhood and nowadays it needs to be strong. "It’s not just the firefighting that’s taking us away or killing us, but it’s the after effects of all the cancers, all the chemicals we absorb from the different construction types and everything,” said Dorn.
