VIDEO: The Stevens Point Fire Department was awarded nearly $80,000 for new equipment, due to a federal grant from FEMA that will allow the department to better help in emergencies. The new equipment will increase the department's ability to extract people from vehicles, farm equipment and heavy machinery. U.S. Representative Ron Kind was on hand to present the grant to the fire department, saying we need to support our local firefighters. "Every little bit helps and this money can go a long way as far as the training and equipment that our firefighters need to be successful and safe on the job," he noted.
