A Wauwatosa duplex fire didn't result in any injuries, but one of the units suffered significant damage Monday morning.
Crews were met with moderate fire and smoke on the second floor of a 2½-story duplex, 2151 N. 60th St.
The upper unit suffered significant fire and smoke damage, while the lower unit suffered moderate smoke and water damage.
According to the Wauwatosa Fire Department, a tenant was awakened at 1:35 a.m. Monday by what he described as loud noises.
He exited his bedroom on the upper floor and found fire and smoke in his living room. The American Red Cross assisted the tenants.
The fire appears to have started in the upper unit’s living room, the release said. The cause of the fire is undetermined but doesn't appear to be suspicious, the department added.
The Wauwatosa Fire Department, along with Milwaukee Fire Department Engine 34, had the fire under control in less than 25 minutes.
Crews were in the neighborhood Monday distributing smoke detectors and providing fire safety tips.
