No one was injured after a fire broke out at a duplex in Ashwaubenon early Wednesday morning.
Just after 1 a.m., fire crews were called to a two story duplex located in the 1700 block of Cormier Road for a fire in the back of the residence, a press release from the Ashwaubenon Department of Public Safety said.
When crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of both duplex units. Two occupants in the duplex at the time of the fire had escaped prior to the arrival of first responders, Ashwaubenon public safety said.
Firefighters had a difficult time battling the fire, as it spread from the first story to the second on both sides, Ashwaubenon public safety said. Crews were on scene for about two hours battling the blaze.
The Red Cross was called to the scene of the fire to assist the displaced residents, according to Ashwaubenon public safety. The investigation into what caused the fire remains ongoing.
