A 30-year-old Monroe man died early Monday morning after a crash in Green County. The Green County Sheriff's Department says just after 1 a.m., they got a call about a single-vehicle crash on County Highway P. When first responders got there, the one man in the vehicle was reported to be unresponsive and the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Firefighters from the Monroe Fire Department were able to put out the fire, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County Coroner. Officials believe the vehicle was driving east on County Highway P, when the vehicle got off the road and collided head-on with a large tree. The initial investigation shows speed was a contributing factor, but the crash remains under investigation.
