Three weeks after a massive fire put dozens of people out of their bayside homes, the fire department is asking themselves: "How did we do?"
CBS 58 sat down with the North Shore Fire Chief for an honest assessment.
Chief Robert Whitaker says he wishes more of the building could have been saved but it wasn't North Shore's top priority that night. Not when an apartment building full of people are asleep.
"They made the right decisions from my standpoint looking backward. They had to put the firefight almost on hold to make sure all the people were evacuated," said Chief Whitaker.
The Chief said if the property is redeveloped, he'll give his input to help make sure a possible fire in the future won't be as catastrophic.
