Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out at Green Bay Packaging Wednesday night. According to a press release from the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, crews were called around 9:30 p.m. to the manufacturing facility located at 831 Radisson St. When firefighters arrived, smoke from inside the plant could be seen from outside. It took firefighters some time to locate where the fire was coming from due to the size of the facility and the amount of smoke already in the building. The fire was contained to a dust collection unit located on the roof and was controlled and extinguished with the built-in fire protection system. Crews from neighboring fire departments were called in to assist. All plant employees were safely evacuated and no one was injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and there are no damage estimates at this time, the department said.
