Local emergency crews rescued three Cargill Malt workers from a Sheboygan malt silo Tuesday. The Sheboygan Fire Department was dispatched to Cargill's New Jersey Avenue facility at about 10:24 a.m. Tuesday after a worker fell into a silo and was trapped up to his neck. When first responders arrived, they found that two more workers had become trapped in the silo while trying to rescue the first man, according to a press release from the fire department. Sheboygan firefighters worked with members of the Sheboygan County Technical Rescue team, the Sheboygan Department of Public Works and Cargill employees to free the trapped individuals, the release said. The two individuals who entered the silo in an attempt to rescue the worker who fell were both extricated within an hour of when the fire department arrived, the release said. Both were treated by paramedics at the scene and released.
