Over a dozen fire departments from Wisconsin and Illinois helped battle a garage fire Saturday evening in the 7400 block of County Road P in Turtle Township, according to the Turtle Fire Department. The garage was fully engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived. Additional units from Town of Beloit, City of Beloit, Edgerton, Harlem-Roscoe, Juda and Stoughton EMS responded, but due to the "demanding" fire suppression effort, the mutual aid also was requested from Delavan, Footville, Janesville, Milton, North Boone, Orfordville, Rockton, Shirland and South Beloit, according to a Turtle Fire Department news release. Crews extinguished the fire that was largely contained to the detached garage with only minor damage to adjacent structures. Firefighters stayed on scene for several hours after the fire to check for possible hotspots.
