The Galesville Area Volunteer Fire Chief took to Facebook to voice his concerns for the safety of his emergency workers. According to the post, the department responded to a two-vehicle head-on collision yesterday which involved rerouting traffic for over an hour. One fireman, in full gear with a reflective vest and lighted stop sign, had to jump out of the way twice for vehicles failing to slow down. The Chief said one of the vehicles swerved at the fireman as he attempted to get out of the way. Another driver used profanity when they were not allowed to go through. The Chief said, "Please remember that all emergency workers have families and friends at home that we would like to return to at the end of our workday. Please help keep us safe and Move Over or Slow Down if you see us on the side of the road."
