A mother and her three daughters lost everything after a fire at their Saratoga home Friday night.
The fire was reported at the house on 59th Street South in Saratoga shortly before 11:30 p.m., Grand Rapids Fire Chief Robert Piatt said. When firefighters arrived at the house, "flames were coming out of the windows," Piatt said.
The house belonged to Hope Zagorianakos, who lived there with her three daughters Christina,16; Hannah,13; and Grace,10, Zagorianakos' brother James Passineau said. Zagorianakos has two other adult children who didn't live at the house.
The family was not home at the time, Passineau said, but a friend was staying at the house. She was able to get herself and the family's four dogs out safely. However, the family's two pet guinea pigs, Poppy and Black Olive, died, according to a GoFundMe page.
