The Madison Fire Department celebrated the grand opening of Fire Station 14 on Friday afternoon. It’s located on the southeast side of the city in the 3200 block of Dairy Drive.
Cynthia Schuster, a spokesperson with the Madison Fire Department, said the station will serve the Owl Creek Neighborhood, Dutch Mill Road, and the nearby vicinity.
Schuster said Fire Station 14 began operating on Dec. 27, 2018. After a month and a half after going into service, Engine Company 14 is already making a difference with average response times of around five minutes.
Chief Steven Davis said this was needed for the area.
“There aren’t many communities in this country that can say they are adding facilities, adding stations quite like the investment Madison's had,” said Davis of the Madison Fire Department.
