VIDEO: The Edgerton Fire District is expanding to include paramedic services in its ambulances after the district was accredited following a three-year process. Deputy Chief Jason Russ says not being able to provide the service in the past was difficult for him. "As an (emergency medical services) provider that’s been in this now for 16 years, one of the hardest things is to be with a patient and know you can provide a better level of care, but yet know, since the service isn’t to that level yet, you cant," he said. Russ says that prior to the change, the Edgerton Fire District relied on departments as far away as Janesville and Madison to provide emergency ambulance care, a process that could add an additional 15 to 30 minutes.
