After being sold at an auction more than 50 years ago, a 1935 Mack fire truck originally owned by the Manitowoc Fire Department is back in the hands of Manitowoc firefighters.
"I just thought it would be so neat for the city and the citizens to be able to see a piece of history from so long ago," said Jeff Keehan.
Keehan, a firefighter with the Manitowoc Fire Department, and Carl Kuehn, a retired firefighter, have been working on the truck since the IAFF 368, the local firefighters' union, purchased it from a private collector about a year ago.
Mack Trucks, Inc., is a well-known American truck manufacturer that was founded under the name Mack Brothers Company in 1900. Many of the trucks and buses manufactured by Mack were given a distinctive bulldog hood ornament.
