Rhinelander Fire Department kicked off another season of fundraising Monday for those living with muscle diseases. From July 11 to 13, Rhinelander firefighters will collect donations at the intersection of Dwight and Stevens streets. The department has partnered with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, or MDA, for over a dozen years.
Carolynn Hietala of MDA said part of the money gets Rhinelander kids with muscle disease to weeklong summer camp.
"It's the time that kids go in the boat for the first time, fishing, go swimming for the first time so we're very, very lucky to provide those opportunities for those kids that wouldn't necessarily have those options," said Hietala.
