A long-time Eagle River volunteer firefighter has passed away. Jack Thomas worked with the department for 61 years. In a Facebook post, the Eagle River Fire Department thanked him for his service. He was also an integral part of building ice castles each winter. Thomas was a fire chief for 18 years of that service. His family said there’s no way to count the number of people he impacted over the years.
