A fire destroyed a restaurant Friday morning near Elkhart Lake.
First responders took a call of a fire at Three Guys & a Grill on Sheboygan County J near Elkhart Lake about 4:20 a.m., according to the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office.
Elkhart Lake Fire Capt. Keith Fischer said crews saw smoke and flames through the roof when they arrived.
“The flames had spread between the roof and the false ceiling, and it became a defensive fire at that point,” Fischer said.
It took area firefighters about three hours to put out the blaze, which stayed in the restaurant and a home behind it. Fischer said the home's resident was sleeping when the fire started but got out safely.
Fischer said one firefighter suffered a minor injury to their hand battling the blaze.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
Three Guys and a Grill East said in a Facebook post that the restaurant is closed until further notice.
