A North Fond du Lac home was destroyed by a fire Monday night. Firefighters responded to the blaze in the 1200 block of Wisconsin Avenue after 8:30 p.m., according to a North Fond du Lac Fire Department news release. Crews tried to make entry into the home, but the conditions were untenable, so they fought the fire from outside the home, according to the release. Firefighters were then able to enter the home and put out the rest of the fire. Officials said the fire was under control at 9:41 p.m. Four residents were not home at the time of the fire, but multiple animals, including two dogs, were killed, according to the release. Officials said the home is uninhabitable at this time. The North Fond du Lac Fire Department is investigating the fire. The North Fond du Lac Fire Department was assisted by the City of Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue, Van Dyne Fire Department, North Fond du Lac Police Department, RIT District 1, Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office and Alliant Energy.
