A bill aimed to help volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel was unveiled today. Rep. Treig Pronschinske from the 92nd State Assembly District announced the bill at the Town of Pleasant Valley fire station. He says the bill hopes to address the recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters and emergency service personnel in Wisconsin. A volunteer firefighter himself, Pronschinske says this is a way to help bring these services to some of the state's less-populated areas. "It's been an issue of getting people to volunteer to do anything, but with these rural areas - and I represent of rural area - it's tough to attract people to come to the services, because the population in these areas have been going down,” said Pronschinske. With talk in Madison moving towards the upcoming State Budget, Pronschinske calls this bill "a pretty easy sell."
