A residential garage in Manitowoc suffered significant damage Thursday afternoon after a fire broke out inside of it.
Fire crews were dispatched about 4 p.m. to 732 S. 22nd St. for a report of smoke coming from a two car unattached garage, a press release from Manitowoc Fire and Rescue said.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the roof and closed overhead door of the structure, the release said.
Crews were able to quickly enter the garage and bring the flames near the rear portion of the structure under control. The quick response also prevented the fire from spreading to a neighboring garage, the fire department said.
An exact estimate of damage done has not yet been determined, the fire department said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
