Madison firefighters prove to be fastest at 2019 American Lung Association Fight For Air Climb

The Madison Fire Department took home the medals for fastest female firefighters at the 2019 American Lung Association Fight For Air Climb Saturday afternoon. Firefighters had to climb the 47 floors, 1,034 steps, to the top of the US Bank Center in Milwaukee to raise awareness and funds for the American Lung Association. The department had the fastest firefighters in both the under 40 and above 40 categories. Julie Gressmeyer (under 40) had a time of 9:39 to climb 1,034 steps in full firefighter gear; Linnea Anderson (40+) recorded a time of 11:43, according to Dona Winisky with the American Lung Association. The Madison Fire Department was also the third highest firefighter fundraising team, raising $2,373, after second place Wauwatosa and first place MABAS 106 (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System), from Waukesha County.
