What kid doesn't want to squirt water at an imaginary fire?
With that question, which really needs no answer, Neenah officials have set out to create a firefighter-themed splash pad at Washington Park.
The splash pad will feature water cannons, fountains and sprays that will inspire children to pretend they are heroic firefighters saving the day. It will include a water-spouting car on a make-believe road that doubles as the splash pad's drain.
"It's going to be an on-demand splash pad," said Brad Auxier, a Neenah-Menasha firefighter who brought forth the concept. "The actuator will be a replica fire hydrant. Kids will be able to hit a button on the hydrant that will turn on all of the other water features. There won't be flowing water unless it's being used."
