Tuesday the Rhinelander Fire Department taught local kids fire safety. Firefighters came to classrooms at Central Elementary school to give presentations on fire safety. Kids learned how to draw escape plans for their homes and received fire safety tips. A 5th-grade teacher at Central Elementary school, Sarah Lange said it was a great learning opportunity. "I think this is a great opportunity for students to learn about different careers in our community and to appreciate what these people do for us every day," said Lange. "We frequently hear the sirens coming past since we are in the city here and we are often wondering what we are doing." Lange said the presentation might give some inspiration to young minds. "I look forward to someday seeing these kids here doing good work like this in our community and hope that they can save people one day," said Lange Firefighters hope this lesson will help keep people safe.
