A driver crashed a car into a senior apartment complex in Kaukauna Thursday morning, At about 6:05 a.m., police and firefighters were called to a crash at Canal Place Senior Apartments, 137 E Wisconsin Av. Emergency responders found the car well inside the apartment unit and the driver trapped. "When we arrived on scene we noticed that a Ford Taurus had driven about 20 feet inside an apartment building and the patient was still trapped and injured in the car. He was removed and transported to a local hospital and then the two residents inside the apartment needed assistance getting out," says Asst. Fire Chief Cody Foss, Kaukauna Fire Dept. Two apartment residents were asleep at the time of the crash. Remarkably, they were not hurt. "The car actually struck the bed they were in, but they were not injured," says Foss. Police say speed was a factor, but alcohol was not. The posted speed limit is 25 mph. Police say the driver was going quite a bit faster than 25.
