A fire Wednesday afternoon has displaced a Stevens Point family.
The Stevens Point Fire Department was paged about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday to 2132 Madison St. for a house filling with smoke. Upon arrival, firefighters found light smoke coming from the second floor of the single-family home, said Assistant Fire Chief J.B. Moody.
The individuals who reside in the home were safely outside when the fire department arrived. Firefighters also rescued a cat from the home, Moody said.
Stevens Point firefighters were assisted at the scene by fire departments from Plover, Hull and Rudolph. They remained on the scene for about two and a half hours, Moody said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
