There was a sweet reunion at the South Milwaukee Fire Department Tuesday, Feb. 11. A 12-year-old bulldog named "Tuff" came back to see the firefighters who rescued him. On Jan. 31, Tuff got stranded on an ice shelf near the Lake Michigan shoreline in South Milwaukee. Firefighters were called and they put their professional skills to work, bringing Tuff back to shore. "He actually was very calm, which was one of the things going through my mind when I was getting close to him," firefighter John Rhinesmith said. "If he was gonna freak out...there's a guy in a big yellow suit coming at him. But he was very calm." The fire department plans to sell "Tuff" T-shirts to raise money to buy more ice rescue equipment and for the benefit of a pet charity.
