Evansville fire officials: 2 garages considered total loss

The Evansville’s Fire Department responded Friday evening to a garage fire in the 100 block of West Liberty Street. According to a news release, around 9:23 p.m. Evansville firefighters and police officers responded to a call about a two garages on fire located behind the homes on West Liberty and West Church streets. No injuries were reported on the scene. Firefighters knocked a majority of the fire down quickly, however, due to energized power wires, fire crews had to stop until Evansville Water & Light crews were able to shut the power off. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, but both garages were considered a total loss. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
