A new emergency communication system is in place for Onalaska residents. The city will now work with the ‘RAVE’ alert system. The system replaced the Code Red platform the city worked with through the end of 2019. ‘RAVE’ will be put in place in other communities in La Crosse County in the future as well. Anyone that was getting alerts from Code Red will need to re-enroll to ensure they are getting information. Onalaska’s fire chief says information can save a life in an emergency. “We can send out a mass communication to those who subscribe to the platform and they can be notified of where a shelter may be, what areas are impacted,” said Onalaska Fire Department Chief Billy Hayes.
