One person is dead after a fire broke out Tuesday in a residence attached to the Victoria Motel in Oak Creek.
According to Oak Creek Fire Chief Mike Kressuk, a call came in at 11:50 a.m. and responders encountered "light smoke conditions" at the motel. Crews entered a unit and found a small fire near a closet.
The residence is a separate address but is connected to the motel, 10131 S. Chicago Ave. According to the PulsePoint system on the Oak Creek Fire Department website, the address where the crews were sent is 10129 S. Chicago Ave.
Responders conducted a search of the entire building and found a person dead in one of the motel rooms, Kressuk said.
