Sheboygan family displaced after fire

Residents of a home were displaced after a fire early Sunday morning. The Sheboygan Fire Department received a report of a structure fire around 4:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of North 13th Street. Firefighters found heavy fire coming from the front porch when they arrived. They extinguished the fire outside before going into the building, according to the fire department. The residents were able to get out safely when they heard their smoke detectors. The Red Cross is assisting them with accommodations. The total damage was estimated worth of $45,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire department wants to remind everyone to check the batteries in their smoke detectors as part of daylight saving time.
