With the retirement of Menomonee Falls interim Fire Chief James Mollet, the police and fire commission planned to meet March 26 to take possible action on designating a replacement interim chief. "We need to move quickly to have a permanent (fire) chief for the long term and to move quickly in the interim," said Village Manager Mark Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald said Mollet gave notice that he was retiring about a month ago. His last day was March 25. He did not provide a reason for his retirement, Fitzgerald said. Mollet is not continuing to be employed with the department in any capacity. Mollet was named interim fire chief Dec. 10 after serving as the department's assistant chief for 6½ years. He was a full-time firefighter with the Greenfield Fire Department for just over 18 years, advancing from firefighter to lieutenant to battalion chief.
