A fire that broke out Wednesday caused significant damage to the old town hall in Eden, located in southern Fond du Lac County. Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's office were called out shortly before 12:30 p.m. for a structure fire reported at 119 Sheridan St. in the village. Construction was occurring on the historic building and it is believed a piece of equipment being used caused the blaze, said Sgt. Ryan Zitlow. The building is owned by the town of Eden. It was often used in former days by the Friends of the Old Town Hall to host local history classes and education about one room schools for students from the nearby Eden Elementary School. Eden, Mount Calvary, town of Fond du Lac and Campbellsport fire departments responded to the scene. The fire is not suspicious and no injuries were reported, Zitlow said.
