The Menomonee Falls Police and Fire Commission has named its interim chief, Gerald Washington, as its next leader.
His start date has not yet been determined, but he is expected to begin as soon as routine administrative items and paperwork are completed, said Village President Dave Glasgow.
Washington has served as interim fire chief in Menomonee Falls since March 25, replacing James Mollett, who was with the department for six years.
Washington served as assistant chief in Milwaukee from 2010-19, and worked with the department for 28 years before retiring last year. He holds a master's degree from Cardinal Stritch University.
The department has been without a full-time chief since 2013. Jeffrey S. Hevey, the fire chief at that time, left the position for another job.
